The hat? - 2010-02-24
I haven't seen anything about it anywhere, so I hope you'll answer and settle my curiousity. Is it one from 'There Will Be Blood'? What's the story? Also, glad to see a Greg Brown song featured in 'Crazy Heart'. Someone in Hollywood oughta figure they could use some REK in a soundtrack. Just better be a deserving film.

WV Mountain Stage Performance - 2010-02-17
02/15/2010 To All Robert Earl Fans: Last night’s venue at WV Mountain Stage was top notch. From Danny Barnes banjo and Darrell Scott’s acoutics to the Sweetback Sisters and Ray Wylie Hubbard’s Snake Farm, all gave excellent performances but when Robert Earl came out in his one piece union suit (red underwear - special valentines day issue) boots and hat, now that’s one to remember. MC Larry Groce commented that Robert looked like a Canadian Mountie. Robert replied that he also put out forest fires. My initial impression was OMG it’s Pardner (Clint Eastwood) or Ben Rumson (Lee Marvin) from Paint Your Wagon. I was expecting Robert to break out into “The First Thing You Know” or “I Talk To The Trees.” Instead, he launced into The Rose Hotel followed by Flyin’ Shoes, The Man Behind The Drums, Something That I Do and finished up with Wireless In Heaven. Rich Brotherton was on top of his game as was the rest of the REK Band. If you have not yet purchased The Rose Hotel, do it. You’ll love it. REK puts on a great show in any attire!!!

After many times listening - 2010-01-27
I would have to say Laughing River. I love the music and harmony. Hard to pick one that wasn't written by REK, but that is my top choice. Followed by TRH, Throwing Rocks, Cleveland Overall a really good album

TRH Album - 2010-01-09
After waiting 4 years for a new album I was at first disappointed but then, as usual with REK, I am now totally in love with it. I am a big fan of your early work (I'm a grandpa that plays guitar) so Laughing River with the twangy banjo and the raspy voiced duets is my favorite.

The Rose Hotel - 2010-01-09
When I first heard the title track I thought 'this sounds like a Band song'. That influence became clear when I listened to The Man Behind The Drums. Throwin' Rocks, Something I Do, Laughing River are my favorites. Maybe you'll play one of them when we see you (the 4th time) in Bloomington IN in Feb. And thanks for the photo with Christina. You're the best!

Laughing River - 2010-01-09
I would love to know the inspiration for these lyrics. I live in Upper Michigan where the Laughing Whitefish River flows and wonder if this is the river of which the writer was thinking. Love all the songs! Thanks for the enjoyment!

The Rose Hotel 5* Accomodations - 2010-01-09
This is an awesome album. Not a bad song in the lot. "On and On" is great, "Wireless in Heaven" is a knee slapper, The title track is one of the best songs I've heard in the last 10 years or longer. Can't get enough REK. Please don't wait another 4 years to release more great music.

Too Many Good Ones - 2009-12-23
The more I listen, the more I like the new album. Each song sounds like it could be from a different genre, and thats what makes it so fun to listen to.Its tough to pick just one. Being from Huntington,WV, I've had to drive a bit to catch your shows, but they were well worth it. Not only is your music great, but you treat your fans so well. REK is a class act.

Full of Great Songs - 2009-12-23
No song on the album sounds quite the same, and thats what makes it so great. Love the whole album. You take up at least four of the spots on my six-disc changer. The beauty of your success is that you've done it your way. No leather pants and no highlighted hair, just awesome songs. Being from Huntington,WV I've had to travel a bit to see you, but it was worth every penny. Thanks

a joy.... - 2009-12-11
This CD shows such a different journey. From the liner notes to the last chord. You continue to bring songs that are must songs for travelers such as me. Songs that you just wouldn't leave home without. And songs that touch the souls of many. Your version of "Flyin Shoes" was just perfect. I believe Townes would have loved it. "Wireless in Heaven" made me chuckle pretty good. Your duo with Greg is just wonderful. I am still intrigued with "Goodbye Cleveland". But my true favorite is "Something that I do" I hope this record was as much of a joy to make as it is to listen to. For me you made the "big show" on this CD.

I Never Made the Show Either - 2009-12-11
I did however play ball through college for a NAIA DII school up in Wisconsin. "Laughing River" obviously speaks worlds to me. In this time of economic turmoil, moving back to California, having all your friends get hitched and realizing baseball is no longer is tough. I long for that dugout atmosphere and common camradarie. Luckily I can find that and more when you come up to the Bay Area. "Man Behind the Drums" is a close second.

GOODBYE CLEVELAND - 2009-12-11
As I am listening to The Rose Hotel at work, I am realizing how privileged I am to be able to hear new music from my idol. It is difficult to choose one song from this album, as this is one of the greatest albums I have ever heard. REK and band, you guys never disappoint. When I heard that ya'll were making this album, I thought, "surely they won't be able to top what they have already done." I was wrong. I would have to say Goodbye Cleveland is my favorite!

Love Them ALL - 2009-12-11

A very big Thank You to you, the band, and Mr. Maines and everyone associated with this super CD. |

You're the Best - 2009-12-11
Saw you in Vincennes IN ( my 10th REK concert) during sound check this summer and you guys were noodling around with "Something That I Do". Standing at the edge of the stage watching you work out a song was unforgettable but...."On and On" is the one that you seem to put the most feeling into. You guys are the best and getting better!

Robert, Rose Hotel is fantastic with a runner up of Wireless in Heaven. But, shoot, they are all good. I attended your show in Wilmington, DE. You met my grandson and said his name on stage, priceless. Your are the favorite in my house thats for sure. Take care of yourself and looking for a full band show real soon.

The Man Behind The Drums - 2009-11-18
Being an Arkansan, I’ve got to go with The Man Behind The Drums. What I’d like to know is if the guitar lick is a reference to one of Levon’s songs?? The tune just sounds familiar but I can’t seem to place it. Although…. I’m awfully lazy so I can definitely relate to Something I Do. COME TO LITTLE ROCK!

Laughing river - 2009-11-18
I gotta say, the first song that absolutely grabbed me was "The Man Behind The Drums" but as time moves on, I'm really loving "Laughing River". I have to hear it a few times a day now and the feeling of it is classic and timeless. The whole album is great REK and the production is amazing! It was great to meet you in New Hampshire a couple weeks ago... I feel so lucky to have shared those few minutes with someone who I so admire. Thanks for taking the time. It meant a lot to us. We love you up here Man!!! Come back again real soon!

You DO have awesome fans, but you deserve them! And The Rose Hotel SHOULD be #1 because it rocks! (Btw, the best song on it is the title track, or possibly On and On, or maybe Throwin' Rocks, or perhaps your awesome rendition of Flyin' Shoes, or and and and and and and.

Burning Daylight - 2009-11-18
Burning Daylight, Robert Earl, is my favorite tune. I seem to identify myself in this tune. Moreover, you have streched your musical horizona with the cool tropical beat. You are the master of keeping your own voice and at the same time taking your songs to new musical adventures.

Fave songs on TRH - 2009-11-18
The title track is my fave, especially the chorus with the harmonies. Story of my life!! Then I like the tone/mood of your and Greg's version of "Laughing River". "Wireless In Heaven" is a great funny/'cute' song, and you get to take out your bluegrass frustration at the end!! COOL
