Jack Tatum - 61 died in Oakland today.   He played football at Ohio State and later with the Oakland / Los Angeles Raiders and Houston Oilers.   One of his best known tackles was made in a preseason game with the New England Patriots' wide receiver Darryl Stingley.   The hit left Stingley with two severed vertabrae and full body paralysis.  Jack's hard hitting earned him the nickname "The Assassin."

Definitely one of the most physical db's I've seen.  And he played during an era in which those guys got away with a lot more than is permitted now...
